Nutmeg Vitality™ essential oil

Nutmeg Vitality™

(Myristica fragrans)

dietary

Nutmeg (Myristica fragrans) Vitality essential oil is obtained by steam-distilling the dried kernels of the ripe seeds of the nutmeg. This fruit is native to Moluccas Island, also known as the Spice Islands, but is also grown in Java (Indonesia), Penang (Malaysia), and Sri Lanka.  The evergreen tree from which nutmeg is derived also produces another type of spice: mace.

Nutmeg has a sweet, warm, spicy scent similar to the spice commonly used in cooking. Comforting and soothing, nutmeg helps boost energy.

Oregano Vitality essential oil

 OREGANO VITALITY

(Origanum vulgare)

dietary

Oregano (Origanum vulgare) includes the naturally occurring constituent carvacrol. Oregano, when taken as a dietary supplement, supports a healthy lifestyle regimen and may also be used to enhance the flavor of foods and your favorite savory recipes. Oregano is an important ingredient in ImmuPower™ and a key oil in the Raindrop Technique®.

oregano vitality

Oregano essential oil smells just like you think it would smell – like a pizzeria.  But associating oregano only with Italian cooking does not do this oil justice as it contains many healthy and helpful vitamins and minerals.

Caution: Oregano essential oil is a HOT oil and can cause irritation to the skin and mucus membrane if taken in high concentrations or dosages. ALWAYS DILUTE OREGANO

How to use: For internal use. To use as a dietary supplement, add to food, water or other beverages. Can also place a few drops in a vegetable capsule and take internally to support overall wellness.

  1. Cooking:  Infuse your favorite recipes with the enticing aroma and taste of Oregano.  Essential oils are VERY potent.  Start by dipping a toothpick in your oil and dragging it through your food.
  2. Tomato Pasta Sauce: Add 1 drop of Oregano Vitality essential oil and 1 drop each of Rosemary Vitality and Thyme Vitality essential oils to tomato sauce base
  3. Pasta Water: For a less powerful herb taste, instead of adding to the pasta sauce, simply add 1 drop Oregano Vitality oil , Rosemary Vitality and or Basil Vitality to the water before cooking spaghetti pasta
  4. Olive Oil: Add various culinary herb essential oils to your olive oil, such as Oregano Vitality . Pour over a plate of balsamic vinegar and use foccacia bread for dipping.
  5. Marinade:  add to your marinade for a Mediterranean flare!

Holiday Cheer with a Diffuser

images

I love this time of year.  The air starts to turn crisp, the leaves turn brilliant colors, and I just can’t help but be inspired by the Holiday spirit.    But some of the best things about the holidays are the smells.   Thanksgiving meals, mulled cider, apple pie, fall leaves etc.   That Woodsy, spicy, warm scent that gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling inside.   Here is a list of oils that you can diffuse to get into that Holiday spirit.

Holiday, oils to blend

Be creative with your scents!   A standard size diffuser will take 6-8 drops of an oil to fill your home.  Don’t be afraid to experiment with your blends – that’s half the fun!   But if you need a place to get started, here are some ideas for you.

Myrrh Essential Oil

Myrrh

(Commipihora myrrha)

topical aromatic

Myrrh has been used since ancient times as an ingredient in incense and perfumes and has been found in ancient Egypt as part of the embalming process.  Biblical scholars and theologians have offered different interpretations of the meaning and significance of the gold, frankincense and myrrh that the 3 magi presented to Jesus. It is widely believed these valuable items were standard gifts to honor a king or deity in the ancient world: gold as a precious metal, frankincense as perfume or incense, and myrrh as anointing oil.

myrrh pic

Myrrh has a rich, smoky, balsamic aroma that is purifying, restorative, revitalizing, and uplifting. It is a helpful aid to meditation, having one of the highest levels of sesquiterpenes available. Sesquiterpenes are a class of compounds that have a direct effect on the hypothalamus, pituitary, and amygdala, the seat of our emotions. Myrrh is referenced throughout the Old and New Testaments of the Bible. The Arabian people believed it helped wrinkled, chapped, and cracked skin. Today, myrrh is widely used in oral hygiene products

As you can see, there are good reasons why Myrrh is still an important and valuable ingredient in any natural home.

How to use: For aromatic or topical use. Diffuse, inhale, or add to bath water. Apply to crown of head, back of neck, behind ears or inside wrists. Possible skin sensitivity.

  • Meditation: Use during meditation to increase spirituality.
  • Bath: Add to Epsom salts in a bath for soothing experience.
  • Dryer: Place drops on a wool ball and toss in the dryer cycle
  • Vacuum: put a few drops on the vacuum filter to make the whole house smell like the gifts of Christmas
