Coriander Vitality™ essential oil

Coriander Vitality™ Essential Oil

(Coriandrum sativum)

dietary

Coriander essential oil is for use aromatically and topically while Coriander Vitality essential oil is dietary and therefore can be ingested.  Both bottles contain the same essential oil and differ only in the way they are labeled.  The designation of the two products allows you to share all the ways to use essential oils in the correct and FDA approved way.

Coriander Vitality™ essential oil shares its botanical origins with the cilantro plant, making it a popular flavor in both Latin and Eastern dishes. Steam distilled from coriander seeds, Coriander Vitality has a fresh, earthy, slightly citrusy taste that enhances many recipes. Use Coriander Vitality to enjoy its versatile flavor as you prepare cuisines from around the world, including Chinese soups, Indian masalas, and Mexican salsas. In addition to flavoring delicious dishes, Coriander Vitality has many health benefits, including digestive support, immune support, cleansing properties, and powerful antioxidants.*

The use of coriander can be traced back to 5000 BC in the Old Testament, making it one of the world’s oldest spices.  Native to regions spanning from southern Europe and
northern Africa to southwestern Asia, coriander was used in both Greek and Roman cultures.

Cooking with essential oils

Cooking with essential oils

With Young Living’s introduction of it’s new Vitality line, a line that is specifically for  dietary use, it is the perfect time to talk about how to incorporate essential oils into your cooking and baking.

Please remember a few things:

  1. Essential oils are highly concentrated!  That means that it only takes a drop, and often less than a drop, to replace what is in your recipe.  Start small and taste test often.
  2. Know where your oils come from.   Not only does this mean that you want to use pure, unadulterated oils such as Young Living Essential Oils, but know the source of the oil as well.  Lemon essential oil, for instance, is cold pressed from the RIND of the lemon, not the juice.  If you use lemon oil in place of lemon juice you will not have that “tartness” that lemon juice provides.
  3. Certain spices will provide color as well as taste.  when making banana bread, I prefer to use the cinnamon spice to the oil just because of the color it adds.  I’ll use the nutmeg and ginger oils, though.
  4. When possible, add oils to your food near the end of cooking or just before serving to preserve the benefits of the oil.
  5. Be careful when cooking with children and be sure oils are out of their reach and capped tightly.

cooking tips

How your substitute essential oils in your recipes is largely a matter of taste.  Below you’ll find some general substitutions but it’s always smarter to start small and taste test often.   Taste testing is the best part of cooking anyway!!
