Angelica essential oil

Angelica essential oil

(Angelica Archangelica)

Angelica is distilled from the seed and root and has soothing aromatic qualities that help create a relaxing environment. It has been referred to as the “oil of angels,” in part because of its calming aroma.

Archangelica comes from the Greek word “arkhangelos” (=arch-angel), as folk lore thought it’s healing powers were so strong that they must be from divine origin.  Another explanation of the name of this plant is that it blooms on the day of Michael the Archangel (May 8, old style), and is on that account a preservative against evil spirits and witchcraft: all parts of the plant were believed efficacious against spells and enchantment. It was held in such esteem that it was called ‘The Root of the Holy Ghost.’

Today, diffusing this blend helps to dispel negative emotions and bring about feelings of peace and spiritual awareness.  It is an important ingredient in Awaken, Forgiveness, Grounding and Surrender essential oil blends.

10 uses for Grounding™ essential oil

 Grounding™

topical aromatic

Grounding™ is a relaxing and balancing blend of essential oils that provides a stabilizing influence. Emotional chaos can lead to poor decisions. Grounding helps you cope with reality in a positive manner.

Removing an excess electrical charge from an object is called grounding.  Removing an excess emotional groundedcharge can also be a form of grounding.  Tree and root oils are wonderful to help you get reconnected.  If you picture the root system of a tree as an extension of your feet you’ll get a visual feel for what it means to be grounded as that root system anchors you to the earth.  Picture emotional energy/electricity coming from the earth up one leg and exiting out the other.  For me, being grounded does not mean “control”.  Instead, being grounded is letting things take it’s natural course.

Here are some situations where I find Grounding to be beneficial.  I put a drop or 2 in my hands, tent my hands over my nose and mouth and inhale.  Also, applying Grounding topically to heart or root chakra (base of tailbone) is helpful as well.

How to use: For aromatic or topical use.  Diffuse, inhale, or add to bath water.  Apply to crown of head, back of neck, behind ears or inside wrists.  Possible skin sensitivity.

    1. Mental clarity:  When there are so many thoughts in my head I have a hard time focusing.
    2. Calming:  Work, family, relationships can be the cause of distractions and leave you feeling unbalanced.  Diffuse grounding to get back in focus.
    3. Emotional Balance:  Ever feel torn and pulled in multiple directions at once?
    4. Personal loss:  Everyone handles personal loss a bit differently.  Grounding can help you find an outlet for that grief.
    5. In a rut:  When I feel like I’m in a rut and lack the motivation to move forward.
    6. Renew Focus:  When I forget what’s really important in life.
    7. Chaos:  When I feel control slipping.  Again, for me grounding isn’t giving me control but letting me see that my perceived control is an illusion.  Just like a mighty river, there are things I can’t control.
    8. Family obligations:  Family gatherings, dinners, in-laws can be sources of increased tension.
    9. The to-do list that won’t quit:  When I have so much on my plate that I feel that it will never get done.
    10. Impending big decisions:  When I feel frozen by indecision because I don’t know the “right” decision to make. Grounding helps me be at peace with the decision that I make.
Couldn’t we all use more Grounding in our lives??
